Bumpaa™ face covering technology gains ISO certification for SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19)

6 November 2020

Bumpaa™, in partnership with Polygiene shares in worldwide first for ViralOff® antiviral treatment achieving a pass for ISO test* on Covid-19

Worldwide first! Textile protection against Covid-19

At Bumpaa™ HQ, we are proud to announce the ViralOff® antiviral technology used on our face coverings has become the first commercial textile treatment in the world to pass the ISO method* test on the SARS-CoV-2 virus (Covid-19). The Bumpaa™ face masks were directly tested immediately after, and are now also ISO method certified against SARS-Cov-2.

The international standard for testing laboratories has confirmed that the SARS-CoV-2 behaves the same as the other standard viruses tested in real world commercial contexts[1].

The treatment is designed to protect textiles from harbouring viruses or bacteria. It does not interfere with the skin’s natural bacterial flora and lasts for the product’s lifetime. When a mask or snood is safely removed, if any virus or bacteria is present on the surface, over 99 per cent will be safely deactivated within a maximum of two hours*.

This breakthrough has major benefits both for textile protection and the environment

Anti-viral becoming the norm

Today, terms such as ‘anti-viral’ are becoming the norm – people know that they need to do as much as possible to protect themselves and those around them. This breakthrough means Bumpaa™ face coverings can play a vital role, providing some reassurance during the difficult and uncertain times that lie ahead.

This recent news means all Bumpaa™ clients can now be assured that if their product comes into contact with Covid-19, the ViralOff® treatment will quickly deactivate the virus minimising the chances of cross contamination.

Helping to protect the environment

It’s a well-known fact that disposable face masks are already beginning to do harm to our planet. With their long-lasting antiviral properties Bumpaa™ masks and snoods can be reused repeatedly – reducing the waste created with the use of disposable masks.

As the Coronavirus continues to overshadow all of our lives, more and more of us are becoming aware of the need to wash and sanitise frequently, in order to protect ourselves and those around us.

Bumpaa™ masks do not require regular washing and the product has been wash tested for up to 15 domestic wash cycles.

When people wash more because of concerns about viruses, this has an environmental impact, and garments will – inevitably – have a shorter lifespan. We are pleased to be behind a product which does not require frequent washing, and which can be safely reused, thus reducing disposable mask waste.

Low MOQs, customised designs – fast turnaround

We have worked tirelessly to try and reduce MOQ levels, create customised designs and all with fast turnaround times to really support market demand. The face coverings can be produced very quickly, as the fabric is milled and treated with the ViralOff® treatment, decorated and packed in the UK – all in as little as three days!
